Mary Jo Huff Story Telling.

TELL IT AGAIN! The words of children who love a good story.  These beautiful words are expressed by hundreds of children across this land.

I am Mary Jo Huff, a storyteller, author, recording artist and Early Childhood Educator with over 35 years of experience and a passion for language development for all children.

Research has documented the importance of children being exposed to storytelling. Children use their imagination, enhance their listening skills and become good storytellers who will pass on the traditions.
Keynoting and speaking across the land has provided me with experiences I can share with everyone.

A story's end is where the fun begins. When the story comes to "The End" it does not have to be the end of the story. Instead continue the learning with activities and experiences that promote conversation and inquiry with Story Play.

Whether you are an inexperienced teacher, a veteran educator, a librarian, a child care professional, or a family member, stories will become meaningful learning experiences. The more we tell stories the more we learn.

Storytelling is a powerful tool for adults who work with children, and with a little imagination you can light a fire in every child's imagination.

PUPPETS
Finding a puppet to fit your personality is important.  Introduce puppets to children and watch their excitement.  Found object puppets can be constructed by children and adults.  I believe that every puppet should have a house to live in so I have collected old picnic baskets and recycled them for specially designed puppet houses.

This is a one-of-a-kind puppet house.  The basket is a recycled picnic basket painted by Orange Moon especially for Storytellin' Time.  The basket has puppets, CD, Peeper Pak and Lesson Plan.
Look for more baskets at fingerpuppetvillage and add a new demension to your work with children.

Mary Jo is enjoying the connection and excitment of the Peeper Puppets.  These puppets can be found on the Storytellin' Time web site and are part of every workshop presented no matter the level.

Look for more articles about storytelling, puppets, transitions, music, nature and having fun with children.

  1. What fun you must have in your work, Mary Jo! I always read LOTS of books to my children and students, but my husband was the real storyteller. Apart from being trained as a Godly Play storyteller and introducing stories through song, I don't have a lot of experience in that area. I'll really look forward to reading your contributions each month! Deb @ LivingMontessoriNow.com
