As parents, we have this tendency to provide our children with things that we think will make them happy--even if they don't actually need them. Although toys and gifts are great, I think giving them too much can actually lead our children to become materialistic.

I believe instilling values of sharing and love for others is a greater gift we can give to our tots than all these expensive toys or things.Janet Dubachttp://www.mycatholicblog.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7820655223655850123.post-75248694879034535962012-12-13T22:23:23.542-05:002012-12-13T22:23:23.542-05:00This is such a great post, thank you for sharing! ...This is such a great post, thank you for sharing! I think the scariest part about being a parent is knowing that it's your responsibility to try to teach your children to be good people and instill good values, morals, the knowledge to know the difference between right and wrong and so much more. As a parent I've noticed that around the holidays, we sometimes forget these things. I just read a great book I'd like to share with other parents called "Teaching Kids to Be Good People" by Annie Fox, M.Ed. You can check her and the book out on the website http://www.anniefox.com/. It's a wonderful read and I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks again for the post, I especially love #8!
Marie Kingnoreply@blogger.com
